Coastspiration – The 5 Most Instagrammable Spots along the East Coast

Barbados
June 13, 2020

The majority of the East Coast is protected land and that makes for perfectly natural and unspoilt vistas for both locals and tourists to enjoy. Further south, there are also numerous secluded beaches in St. Philip that are similarly perfect for taking great nature photography, serving as the perfect background for your family photos. Here are 5 of the most instagrammable spots on the East Coast of Barbados.

Shark Hole, St. Philip

Close to Sam Lord’s Castle is a little bay – a cove, really – rather excitingly named Shark Hole. You are unlikely to find any actual sharks there but what you will find is a little oasis of peace. The tiny beach is very beautiful, with golden-pink sand and vivid turquoise waters on sunny days. It’s perfect for a morning dip alone or with the family as the kids will love playing in the shallows, while you capture some great memories.

Pro tip: For your own safety, don’t swim beyond the two cliffs that shelter either side of the bay.

Bathsheba, St. Joseph

The iconic rock in the surf that you see in many of the pictures of Barbados are taken at Bathsheba on the East Coast of the island. The rugged shoreline is extensive, generally breezy and pretty relaxing, usually with just the wind and ocean (and maybe a surfer or two) for company. It’s especially beautiful in the morning when the sun is rising.

Bottom Bay, St. Philip

Bottom Bay is so beautiful that literally any shot you take of the beach will come out looking amazing – regardless of the angle, or whether or not you are a professional photographer. Simply put, it is very hard to take a bad picture of Bottom Bay. However, arguably the best angle to capture it from is from the cliff overlooking the beach.

Cherry Tree Hill, St. Andrew

This spot is not on the coast itself, but the benefit of this location is that it provides a great view of the East Coast from on high. You can see Bathsheba beach and more. Perfect backdrop for your selfie.

Crane Beach, St. Philip

Crane Beach was labelled one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and with good reason. The beach is simply breathtaking with pink sands and the Atlantic Ocean lapping at its shores. The benefit of Crane Beach is also that it is overlooked by the renowned Crane Resort, where there are lots of great restaurants, and a bar and café just a short walk away. There are countless options for amazing photos both on the beach and at the beautiful resort. Interested in living on the East Coast?
