Experience The Barbados You Haven’t Seen with Beach Houses

Panoramic ocean views. Unparalleled tranquility. The comfort of a luxury home. There’s no denying that Beach Houses is an escape like no other. But what about its surrounding areas? Beyond the thrill of these coast hugging villas, are many untapped Bajan gems ready to be found by you. Here are some of the less travelled roads and experiences that you can enjoy when you choose Beach Houses. Plus, we’re sharing some of the more popular attractions that you can take advantage of when you book Beach Houses with our Explorer Package.

Hidden Beaches

Barbados is known for having some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The coral-limestone island is blessed with more than 80 easy-to-access beaches with white sand and clear, aquamarine water. However, on the East Coast near to Beach Houses, the beaches can be harder to find and feature very interesting rock formations, and rougher waters that often make for the perfect surfing adventure.

Bottom Bay is one of these hidden beaches. Tucked away on a very sprawling coastline beneath a clifftop, Bottom Bay is without a doubt one of Barbados’ treasures. To access the beach, patrons will typically have to enter by descending a staircase. At the bottom of these stairs, you will immediately be stunned by picturesque scene of blue waters, tall palm trees and crashing waves. It’s the perfect stretch of beach for a picnic, daytime tanning or maybe even turtle spotting. Bathing at this beach is not recommended, but if you like a good mix of adventure and peace, this might be the spot for you.

A History Lesson… With Cocktails

Barbados is known as the birthplace of rum, and it’s with good reason. Not only did the spirit originate here, but the island is also home to some of the oldest rum distilleries found around the world. Rum is therefore a huge part of Barbados’ history and culture, so a visit to any of our distilleries is a must if you’re seeking to really appreciate every aspect of this 166 sq. m. paradise.

The Mount Gay Rum Distillery is home to the rum that invented rum. Unlike Bottom Bay Beach, it’s very accessible and despite its business operations, they have a bar and restaurant that is open to the public. They also have guided tours for those seeking to learn more about the connection between rum and Barbados that dates back to the 1600s. For those looking for more of a thrill, Mount Gay also offers a cocktail experience! To top it off, you can take home some of their award-winning rum and open up a bottle while you enjoy a cool evening in the pool at your Beach Houses unit.
